Re: Week 9: Marietta (3-5) @ Cambridge (5-3)
He is a great human being. He needs to win games and put some fans in the stands. Marietta scheduled down this year and still won’t get to .500. Losing to Shenandoah? Love the Zeps but Marietta has no business getting beat by them. Put FF’s or Waterford’s coach at Marietta and I think the program wo...

Congrats to the Zeps. Hate it for Marietta. I think the current staff has been at Marietta for 5-6 years. It might be time to consider a change.

Re: Week 6: Marietta (3-2) @ Shenandoah (1-3)
Don't look now but Tigers headed for best season in 20 years. That was coach Brian Spicer's 8-3 playoff team, one of only 2 times MHS qualifed. If Shenandoah lost three straight but 2 were to unbeatens Shadyside and Union Local. I like Tigers by 10. Could well be their best season in 20 years but i...

Re: Washington County Football
Safe to say that after FF and Waterford there is a huge drop off, no matter the order. Which leads to the why question. FF and Waterford are small schools, adequate but not great facilities, have strong community support. Why aren't the other county schools competitive on a more regular basis? Front...

Re: August 27, 2021 Meigs 81 - 36 Belpre
If Meigs is taking a knee in the first half it’s a sad sad day for the once proud Belpre program. Happy for Meigs and feel awful for Belpre fans and alumni.

This will be a slobberknocker between two good programs with dedicated fan bases that travel. So happy these schools are playing each other. I'll take Williamstown at home by 7.

Re: wk 2: Marietta (0-1) @ River (0-1)
It was really hard to tell anything about Marietta last week as New Philly was so much better from the opening whistle. Huge mismatch. Marietta's running back competed all night and seemed to come out healthy. If they can run the ball and not rely on the young QB to make plays they should hang aroun...

Re: Acceptable Sacrifices To See The 2020 Season Take Place?
There's lots of things that can be done to minimize risk in the stands, from distancing to no fans. But there's nothing you can do to social distance once the game starts on the field. And we know that if one player is positive on the field there will be more. Whoever makes this decision has to deci...

Re: Eastern (4-4, 4-2) @ Belpre (5-3, 5-1)
I’ve seen both, and while Eastern really plays hard, they are small. I’m assuming they are loaded with underclassmen. Belpre will wear them down with running game and pull away in second half.
Eastern and Southern could be a barn burner.

When the season began who would of thought we'd be talking Belpre and playoffs in the same sentence? What a great showing this year by Belpre.

Re: Shenandoah (2-3) @ Marietta (2-3)
Woohoo! A Marietta football thread has two pages! You’d think we were back in the Central Ohio league! Win or lose we shouldn’t be scheduling Shenandoah, who may well beat us. They have a fine team. Shenandoah replaced St. Mary’s on our schedule, who did beat us in the annual “schedule a smaller sch...

Re: Questions about officiating
I say no and no even though sometimes you get a bad call late in game that is hard to overcome. But if you would of executed at other parts of game then the call would of not mattered. I think officials are occasionally guilty of buying into a teams reputation and this creates a underlying not inte...

Re: CC courses
Marietta runs at the Broughton Nature Area. True cross country course, many hills. Tough early in the season with the heat. More and more teams it seems want to run at flat courses to get better individual times on their resume.

He has a track record of taking slumping programs and building them....Caldwell, Parkersburg South, Warren... not just on the field but in the entire community and on all levels. A great hire.
Saw him recently and he looked great, fit, and ready to go. A class act.

Re: 2018 TVC Ohio
That is an outstanding schedule addition for both Nelsonville York and Martins Ferry. It’s great to see quality match ups out of conference like this early in the season. Congratulations to both schools for stepping up. Games like this come back to help teams in tough games late in the season.
