Stay in the TVC. Gallia also plays a terrible schedule in D4. It’s just part of being in SEO.
Really? You are comparing Gallia's schedule to Athens? The school that purposely blew up the SEOAL so they could play in a league with schools 2 and 3 divisions smaller than them. The OVC is the best area league available to Gallia. Yes, Gallia is the largest school, but there isn't much separation in enrollments from top to bottom.
When Athens left the seoal, the conference consisted of..

Jackson
Logan
Zanesville
Warren
Marietta
Chillicothe
Portsmouth
Ironton
Gallia Academy

Not sure how Athens leaving that group blew it up..
This topic has been beat to death over the years, but you're 100% right.

the state. Now you are talking about adding another division 6 school in Oak Hill with subpar athletic programs to the schedule.
My question is if you were running Athens what would you do? What confrence/or schedule would you suggest to make them compete at a championship level?

If Athens has outgrown their cut and run style they would offer to trade conference alliance with Fort Frye. That would put Fort Frye in the Ohio and Athens in the TSL. Much better for both schools.

Would love to see Athens go to the TSL. On the average I would say the TSL has a chance to be a step higher in division than the TVC.

Don't want to blow up your thread and happy to discuss via PM or another thread.... but....

Athens was the geographic center of the SEOAL. They left less than a year after voting to add four teams on the geographic edges of the league. It fast tracked the end of divisional play which exasperated the transportation issues.

Clearly the decision to expand was wrong. But the league voted unanimously for expansion fwiw.

Athens - and later Marietta - were the two decisions to leave that killed the conference once expansion had happened.

Now back to TVC expansion.

Gallia will stay in the OVC now that Ironton is pulling out in football. Had they stayed, I’m sure Gallia would’ve looked to the TVC. With Oak Hill coming (rumor) I don’t see the TVC looking for anyone else minus a hocking oriented school like Miller.
You are just making sh!t up now. Gallia has shown no interest in the TVC since the SEOAL initially fell or leaving the OVC for that matter. Ironton has nothing to do with any Gallia decisions. The schools that were complaining about Ironton got their wish. They no longer play Ironton in football.

Athens had many opportunities over the years to add former SEOAL members to the TVC. Warren alone has petitioned how many times? Athens voted against them every single time. I bet they vote in Oak Hill though.

Makes the most sense the TSL will come to the TVC making three divisions. When that happens Gallia is coming to the TVC

Athens has never voted Warren down. Athens is run by a Warren person. I bet you didn’t know Athens had the votes to get Warren in the TVC and at the last second Warren said they would only join with Marietta. That’s on Warren not Athens

Not going to happen. The TSL only exists because the TVC doesn't want them. The TSL raiding the TVC is more likely at this point.

The TVC would be great for Oak Hill and Oak Hill fits in great with all the TVC schools, except Athens. Do you really want another struggling D6 school on the schedule? Time for Athens to move to the TSL. Maybe Gallia will come with.

The TSL was created by schools no one wants with the hope of being absorbed by another league. Either the TVC or MVL South

Athens is better off in TSL than TVC. With current schedule it will be hard for Athens to ever have a home game in football. Why is a D3 team playing in TVC Ohio???

When the TSL makes the third division in the TVC with Gallia, we call call it the SEOAL

Since athens has been in the TVC (2008) they have won 8+ games 7 times in a season. They have finished 5 out of 7 in the top 8. One of those years, they were in D2.

Athens biggest reason for being in the TVC is the same as it was being in the seoal. They are in the center of NY, Alex, Meigs, VC, Wellston, and at the time (08), Belpre.

If Athens is considering the TSL with Marietta, Warren and Point Pleasant, why don’t they just call Jackson, Gallia and Logan and just start up the seoal?

True. And for Oak Hill, the TVC offers east travel, great facilities and new local rivalries. OH would be an instant mid pack team in the conference and has more potential to build. Just look at Athens.

I hope they come as a package deal with Symmes Valley. The SVAC glory days would be redeemed!
