The Athens County game of the week returns Saturday night on Power 105 when the Athens Bulldogs welcome the Trimble Tomcats to McAfee Gymnasium in a county clash of TVC leaders. The Bulldogs upended Alexander 47-32 on Friday to improve to 7-5 overall and 5-0 in the TVC-Ohio. The Tomcats meanwhile haven't played since last week's loss to Chesapeake and enter the non league tilt with a 6-2 record and 5-0 mark in the TVC-Hocking. Saturday's showdown between TVC division leaders, Athens and Trimble, can be heard live on Power 105.5FM and wxtq.com or the Power 105 app. Tip off is scheduled for 7:15.

I had a feeling Coach Skinner would have his kids fired up for senior night in the Alley Friday. They played a good game and having their big man back, Barnhouse, makes them a better basketball team. But, Kyler was out, so one would think it shouldn't have been that close. I tend to fall in the camp of crediting the underdog for playing well than criticizing the favorite - so I'll chalk Friday night up to Sparty showing up & playing hard.

I thought Trimble beat Athens in 2007 but hard to remember since we were basically getting killed by Central Ohio teams every week
