It is my understanding that Peake plays Thursday at 7pm against Mountain Mission out of Grundy, Va and Fairland plays Spring Valley (WV) in the nightcap.

FYI, Huntington St. Joe recently defeated Mountain Mission 72-67. Chesapeake beat Huntington St. Joe in its season opener 80-43.

While you can take nothing for granted, this appears to be a Chesapeake/Fairland rematch in the making for the Championshiop Saturday night. Gotta play hard Thursday night first, though.

Go Peake!

... Fairland just broke into the Elite 8 this week as well !!! looks like an even BIGGER significance can be attached to the St.Joe Tourney this week if it comes down to FHS vs the 'Peake ...

If Big Sandy Arena is buying the basketball floor, why can't the St. Joe Invitational continue there?

Yessir, Mr. Pfloyd. This is quite a year for Peake and Fairland to play 3 times (if that happens). Also, a great way to wrap up the final St. Joe Invitational at Veterans Memorial Fieldhouse. Two river rivals in a hotly contested match...on the wrong side of the river!

I think Fairland either won at Chesapeake or won the St. Joe Invitational the last time they met in that tournament's championship game.

Found it.

Was 07-08 season and Fairland won the St. Joe Invitational over Chesapeake.

Chesapeake was 2-0 on the right side of the river against Fairland that year.

Here's hoping we can improve on recent history! Meatloaf says two out three ain't bad....but he's not a Panther!

Go Peake!

I'm thinking chesapeake beat fairland for the sji championship in 08-09 and they split the rest of their meetings, with chesapeake beating them at home for the ovc championship

Not sure why but the St. Joe Invitational was moved to St. Joseph's high school gym with comfortably seats like 78 people.

No word on whether the rest of the games are moved too.
