... actually Raider6309 ... Vinton County from the opening tip of the season was the 2nd most complete team in the SE District imo ... I made that comment more than once to SEOPs posters at games this past year ... VC had solid perimeter shooting - Jones/Albright/Bartoe/Naylon Yates, an excellent pg in Bartoe who could get to the rim, AND BIGS by committee on the interior - Wood/McIntire/Caudill ... throw in an in your face defender/hustler - Barnett ... they were a solid even up bet to beat Unioto once Cole Cottrill was out for an extended time with the 2 broken wrists ... an added plus for VC was the post season play of Naylan Yates - wow! the kid stepped up his game big time! he looked comfortable/confident on the floor/ no hesitation in putting the ball up from outside or on the drive to the elbow for the midrange shot, or taking the ball to the rack !!! mark it down - Naylan Yates will be a major player in ALL of the SE district next season - outstanding, especially with his size at 6-3/6-4 ...

Vinton County will be a force next year as well imo ... Tristan Bartoe again at PG, still with the perimeter shooters in Bartoe, Derick Jones, Naylan Yates, Nevan Yates ... Jones/Naylan Yates were strong inside THIS season expect more next season ... Bryce Damron IS 6-7 and a wide body - the VC coaches WILL find room/and a role for him ... the VC JV's were good & solid this past year ... yep - Vinton County WILL BE just fine in the 2016-17 campaign ...

Congratulations to Coach Combs. He did a great job with this team this year.

I did after the first time I watched them play this season and I know for a fact Dundas did before the season started as well.

I look for another big run from them next year as well.

Congrats to Coach Matt Combs for another outstanding season. Matt has a knack for getting 110% from his kids. During our games when I coached at Piketon and even our scrimmages now at Northridge, I can always count on VC to bring it. Coaches the game the way he played it...with passion!

Coach Combs is a first class man and a first class coach. The school and people of Vinton County are lucky to have him. Another great year from a solid program and a community that cares about their school and athletics. Like all of us, Coach Combs does not coach for the awards or records, but it sure is nice to be acknowledged for a job well done. Congrats to everyone involved! Coach Duckworth

I did say, on air, earlier in the year at the Alex/VC game that I felt like this VC team could be the best in school history. That was in December. I was right. 4 tournament wins-school record.

I would love to see Athens vs Vinton in the districts next year
