Wouldnt be surprised to see Barrick run run a box and 1/ diamond and 1 on Waverly and as the season goes on Waverly will see more and more of these type of defenses jakes gonna see a lot of double teams, good coaches just arent going to allow Jake to go for 35 a night unless they come from the free throw line ( I would) their gonna make the rest of the team score and beat them, dont know if they have anyone else who can step up and drop 20 plus on a given night. They should handle burg though home or away just not enough size.

Barrick was at the Court House game and I'm sure he knows Waverly has other guys who can light up the scoreboard. Kelly, Hart, White, any one of those guys can drop 20 on you if you "concentrate" your efforts on Kretzer. Ward can hurt you with 10-15 as well. At the end of the night (against Court House) many folks thought Kretzer scored around 25 but when you add it up he had 35. It wasnt a game where you felt it was a one man show. Naturally teams are going to focus on Jake but da Tigers do have others who can light it up.

Re: waverly@Burg 12/9
Burg is very young and really only has 2 players with any varsity experience. All of the starters from last year's team are gone and Coach Barrick still needs to find out who can fill the spots around the 2 Miller boys to make a competitive team.
At Akron, Kretzer is a good size to play the 2-3 positions, but in the SOC he needs to use that size closer to the basket and play the 4-5 positions. If they pound the ball inside, Burg will have no answer. If Kretzer plays on the perimiter more, Burg will have a chance to keep this one close.

Kretzer had 14 rebounds as well, don't think he spent all his time on the perimiter.

Burg will compete and slow this game down. I like Waverly to pull away but not until the 4th...

Waverly won in an overtime game...35-33....Dont know how the game went, just caught the score on the radio on my way home from our game.
Re: waverly@Burg 12/9
Burg controlled the tempo the whole game. I believe Kretzer had 14 at the half and finished with 16. D.Miller played great defense on Kretzer and finished with 16 himself. Not bad for a sophomore against a D1 signee! Waverly led by as much as 8-10, but most of the game was within 5-6. Burg did everything they wanted to do, just couldn't get shots to fall when it counted. Not necessarily pretty to watch, but Coach Barrick had the kids ready and they carried out his game plan very well.

Re: waverly@Burg 12/9
All I can say is this is a game Waverly played very bad and not to mention the fouls (Tigers 10 fouls to Burg 1 first half and second half it was like 10-7 after burg had to pick up fouls so they could put Waverly on the line. Might be the poorest shooting i have ever seen by a Tiger team in a long time. Even with all that said Tigers STILL pull out a big road victory over a very well coached Wheelersburg team. You have to win the ugly games and Waverly did just that, great overall defense to pick up the win. A couple of the kids played every minute of the game for waverly and were pretty tired but a great win when you have to dig down deep to pull it out. Great effort for Wheelersburg and the schools student bodies were both incredible.
