Other than the fact that they will play basketball, why did these players choose MT ST. Joe? It is incredibly expensive and I didn't think they could offer scholarships.

Re: southeast players at colleges other than d1?
They played AAU together and MSJ was one of the only schools where they could all play together again, it is relatively close to home compared to a lot of their other options, they liked the coaching staff, D3 schools tend to offer good help through academic scholarships(Combs was the valedictorian of his class), also for the most part all D3 schools are expensive and MSJ was one of their cheapest options(Wooster who was looking at Jake Daniels is $50,000 a year compared to roughly 30-32k at MSJ, which is similiar to other D3 schools in the area like Marietta and Wilmington College) a lot of other people from around the area attend the school, it's 10mins from downtown Cincy so there are plenty of things to do, they will all see early playing time, and the team plays a schedule filled with nationally ranked D3 teams and a D1 team in Wright State.downtown95 wrote:Other than the fact that they will play basketball, why did these players choose MT ST. Update: Devante Ames and Logan Perkins are not playing basketball this year. Their decisions. We would have been happy to have both on our team. Both are still going to school.

I Felt the Ames boy had tons of talent and should have utilized him better at Hillsboro. Their coach is running that program into the ground. It's a shame because now they are going to have Chillicothe and Wilmington in the league. But back to the subject, southern ohio is rich with basketball talent.

Mount St. Joseph(Travis Combs, Jacob Daniels, Jordan Payne, Andy Countryman, Jordan Mitchell) start their season off this Saturday(8pm) at the MSJ Tipoff Classic against Olivet College. The second day of the Classic(3pm) they will take on DePauw University. A bunch of guys from the Southeast will be getting minutes early on. Daniels and Countryman have both started in all of their preseason games and Combs/Payne have been 2 of the first players coming in off the bench.

I think it's awsome that all these kids who were friends before college can play together at the next level and help each other out.

They are all doing well so far. Jordan Mitchell hasn't been getting much time in the preseason due to the depth we have in the backcourt but all of them will see time in one form or another.sparky wrote:i just hope they all stick with it at mt st jo.
