Logan played their best "complete" game of the season at both ends of the floor ... holding Jackson's number one option Colt Chapman to 4 points in the first half ... offensively - the Purple "ran the offense" for 4 quarters getting 15 shots inside the blocks to fall ... each time Jackson made a run with a couple of buckets, Logan stayed patient - got good shots ... Coach Helber had to be happy with the all around play of his troops tonight - a solid 4 quarter effort for the Purple ...

This has the Chiefs finishing out from the bottom--congrats--this means 2 points and not 1.5

Marietta...10 14 13 14 6 10 - 67
Zanesville 13 13 14 11 6 12 - 69

Marietta (7-6 ECOL, 10-10)
Futrell 3 0-0 6, Gearhart 0 0-0 0, Satterfield 1 0-0 3, Lenington 11 2-2 28, Williams 3 2-4 8, Thompson 3 1-4 7, Wesel 0 0-0 0, Strauss 0 0-0 0, Grosel 6 3-6 15, Riley 0 0-0 0, TOTALS 27-54 8-16 67.

Zanesville (11-2, 15-5)
Phillis 4 7-8 15, Stanford 5 1-2 11, Haddox 8 3-4 19, Myers 3 0-0 7, Wibbeler 5 0-1 11, Bouterese 0 0-0 0, Long 0 0-1 0, Johnson 3 0-0 6, TOTALS 28-63 11-16 69.

Three-point goals: Zanesville 2-10 (Wibbeler, Myers); Marietta 5-16 (Lenington 4, Satterfield). Rebounds: Zanesville 37 (Long eight), Marietta 35 (Williams 11). Assists: Marietta 9 (Lenington, Grosel 3), Zanesville 5 (Phillis, Wibbeler 2). Steals: Zanesville 8 (Phillis 4), Marietta 4 (Lenington 2). Turnovers: Zanesville 7, Marietta 11.

Seems like slight edges in rebounding, turnovers, and FT shooting allowed Zanesville to prevail over Marietta and Lennington's FG shooting in a closely contested game through-out. Hopefully the several closely fought games that the Tigers lost in the end this season will make them ripe for positive outcomes in a few tourney games.

If Marietta and Chillicothe can get past the first round, the district semi between the two could be an interesting game.

Congratulations to West Union in picking up their first "W" of the season last night vs Fairfield-Leesburg ... haven't seen a score BUT saw the post on the SHL thread ... you could see it coming as West Union lost by only 4 to Lynchburg Clay in Thursday night action 36-40 ... IF anyone has a score please post ... I also can't find scores for :

Eastern Brown
Lynchburg-Clay

Whiteoak
Fayetteville

I'll put the West Union game on here as well:

West Union (win)
Fairfield

Scores that I got late from last night :

New Boston Glenwood 68
Portsmouth Clay 49 ... the Tigers close out the long history of playing in The Den with a "W" ... read in the Scioto Voice that the floor in the old gym was put down in 1954 and still in good shape ... New Gym next season for the Tigers there in New Boston ...

Floyd ... Read this thread and give us your vote ... I'm intrested in seeing your answer ... http://southeasternohiopreps.com/forum/ ... =4&t=86893

- Might have to think about it a little - its a tough question/answer since you have to go either over or under - it can't be 6.

Pfloyd the last game in the tiger den is tonight "saturday feb 18th, the Tigers will take on the East Tartans , a fitting game for the last one.
I do know the girls played their last game there last week, ..

... 93dog ... I gave it an "over" vote ...

Athens is taking on by far the toughest competition having to beat a very good Logan Elm squad ... but the other games are all winnable for the TVC imo

Vinton County ... FU seems to have collapsed in the last part of the season ... not an easy game for Coach Combs boyz BUT VC has figured out how to win again ... a lot will depend on how healthy Remy is - playing the last 2 games pretty much on one leg ... I give the edge to VC

Nelsonville York ... Crooksville/RV

Belpre ... Coach Thornhill has Belpre "believing" they belong again with the TVC Championship under their belts ... many of the Belpre "faithful" remember when BHS was a "fixture" at the Convo - Coach Thornhill wants the Orange and Black to hear Basketball Thirty announced by Lou Horvath AGAIN ... wants them to want to be/expect to be at the Convo every year once again ... Zane Trace ? flip a coin, which ZT team is going to show up ? very athletic and every other game very competitive ... I'm going with the TEAM on a mission - Belpre moves on ...

Federal Hocking ... this game with Southeastern will be a tough one BUT I'm with you 93dog ... I put my money on Howie in a winner take all/one and done game... Howie has the Lancers coming into this post season riding a 5 games win streak ... take Howie & Co. even up ...

Waterford ... vs Symmes Valley

South Gallia ... vs Ironton St. Joseph ... the Rebels have been playing shorthanded for about 2 weeks ... when they have all of the Seniors on the floor they can be very dangerous ... I'm going with the "all facial hair" team from South Gallia ...

... add to that Wellston and Southern as the other 2 TVC teams making an appearance at the Convo ... should be some great attendance numbers for the early rounds at Basketball Thirty this year 93dog !!!

Thanks biggdowgg for the information on the last game at The Den ... I thought the girls were playing the official last game tonight - my bad ... Portsmouth East helping to closeout the Den ... you're right a fitting last game ... I remember some great games vs East - the Sturgill's, Bobby McCann et al vs Ed Thompson, Junior Williams, Mike Dunham, Robin Hancock, John Wisman etc.

Way to go Floyd ... Great answer on the OVER! lol ... I might have to copy and paste your post to the thread if that's o.k. ... I've been getting 'beat' around on that topic since I started it.

Got me a little rest - now its back to 'one-and-done' tournament action down in Pomeroy this afternoon ... Nothing like a double header in Meigs County followed by a huge rivalry game between Athens & NY in Buchtel ... Gonna be lots of driving today - might have to break out my 'Dark Side Of The Moon' CD for this one ... lol

Tha 5-day tally: 7 games, 3 sectional titles, 2 rivalry games, 3 senior nights (did you know they had Bowling down at Wellston - watched em get honered last night ... lol), and 4 counties traveled ... Just gettin warmed up here Floyd!

I just want to toss out how close Valley is to being 20-0. Losing twice on 3s in the final seconds and losing a big lead to Ironton. I can't wait to watch the 4 Jackson teams down at the Convo here in a couple of weeks!

The people part - definitly ... Sat with an 'old timer' this afternoon in the front row down at Meigs - great stuff Floyd ... The fella once played for Charles McAfee, loves high school hoops - and was hilarious to talk & listen too all afternoon ... Probably learned more about Southeastern Ohio basketball (and the game of basketball in general) than I had over the past 10 years ... I was getting that ol "I walked up hill both ways to school in 10-feet of snow every day!" ... Except it was a 'basketball version of the story' ... lol
