DIII Athens Sectional Seeding

Post by buckeyedan »

Curious to see what everyone's thoughts are in the 3 DIII sectionals.

Alexander, Belpre,Crooksville, Federal Hocking, Meigs, Nelsonville-York, River Valley,Southeastern, Wellston, Westfall.

It would be great if we could get some updated records posted . I'll post what I know approximately as far as records go.

However, the order below is the order I would seed them in guessing on the ????? teams.

1. Nelsonville-York 10-2
2. Alexander 11-4
3. Westfall 13-3
4. Southeastern 9-4
5. Belpre ?????
6. Crooksville ?????
7. River Valley 5-8
8. Meigs 6-6
9. Wellston 3-7
10. Fed Hocking ?????

1. Nelsonville-York (1-0 vs Alex... play them tonight.)
2. Alexander (beat Westfall by 20!)
3. Westfall (beat SE twice I believe?)
4. Southeastern (a fairly good 4 seed!)
5. Belpre (No clue!)
6. Crooksville (No clue!)
7. River Valley (continuing to get better.)
8. Meigs (No Clue!)
9. Wellston (No Clue!)
10. Fed Hocking (No Clue!)

Any TVC people or input on some of these teams?

Nelsonville, (no matter what the outcome of this game is tonight) Alexander than Westfall. Everyone else who knows. TVC dominates the voting here. With Alexander running up the score on teams like Meigs, River Valley, Federal Hocking and more I'm betting they don't the #1 seed vote from any of them.

NY will be number 1 after the sweep of Alex.

1. Nelsonville- best record- 16-2 no argument here, definite 1 seed.
2. Westfall- will probably be 17-4 at the draw, 18-3(if they upset Unioto) losses @ Alexander, @Unioto @ Grove City by 1.
3. Southeastern- should be 16-4 time of draw, losses- @ 17-4 Westfall, WF, @18-3 Unioto, & @ 18-0 North Adams
4. Alexander- 14-6 at time draw , 15-5 if they can beat Athens, if so they earn the 2 or 3 seed.
5. Belpre- 15-5- are they in the small division of the t.v.c. ?
6. Crooksville- 9-11 ???. don't know much about them but a 500 season in their league, should be a nice team in this sectional.
7-10 ?

With Alexander beating Westfall by 20, I can't see them getting a seed ahead of the Spartans.

From what I have seen:
1. Nelsonville-York
2. Alexander
3. Westfall
4. Southeastern
5. River Valley
6. Belpre
7. Crooksville
8. Meigs
9. Wellston
10. Fed Hocking

Crooksville has been a bracket buster in the past. Their placement will be the real drama here--the others look like it will line up pretty easily.

My understanding with the WF game was there were some players out but who knows. take into account a 1 1/2 hour drive, on a Monday during Christmas break. I have watched both play and would take Westfall 8 out of 10 times and if they have similar records you may be right but with 6 losses I do not agree.

Westfall lost its best player in the Alex game to an injury in the first quarter. Not saying Alex isn't the better team, but that game would've been closer with her playing the whole game.

If westfall and crooksville meet up in a 3/6 or 2/7 game, I would predict that mighty Westfall will be out.

I was at a 3 way scrimmage watching Eastern play at Alexander and Southeastern was the 3rd team there. SE was more talented than Alex. If they would have gotten the one girl the ball more (good freshman, name?), which I'm sure they are by this point in the season, they could really be scary. I'd stay away from them.

Does strength of schedule mean anything for seeding??? Or are the records all anyone cares to look at?

Good thing is we dont get to vote but i I fully expect Westfall and Southeastern to be in the 4/5, should be a good match up and neither team would be afraid to play Greenfield McLain.
Explain to me Who exactly has Alexander beaten? Athens, that's a nice win, regardless of when it happened. you obviously can't count Westfall because according to some they are terrible, they would probably like to have that one back just like Alex would like to have a 500 Valley team back. Oak Hill??? Minford??? Have you seen them play, because I have. Not the same teams as in the past, not even close. There are some big games left for everyone, Go win tonight and this is not a discussion, Alexander will be the 2( unless Westfall upsets Unioto tonight and that is where I am heading now) best of luck to all and here's to Injury free games.

Southeastern lost to WF twice.

2. Alex
3. WF
4. SE

Alexander lost to Valley ( which SE beat by double figures). That's the end of the story.

1. NY
2. WF
3. SE
4. Alex

Or I'd be happy with:
2. Alex
7. SE
I'd feel pretty good about that matchup.

Westfall just beat Unioto in a great game, 18-3 and I heard southeastern won 16-4 by around 30. What were the scores of Belpre, Alexander, crooksvillemand river valley tonight?

I have to eat some crow on Westfall.

Beat Unioto? Seriously? Wow. They must be 300 x's better than early in season versus waverly.

Yes. Don't know what happened when Westfall played Waverly, but I know Southeastern was beating Waverly 38-9 after 1 quarter of play Tuesday.
