Memorial Field at Holzer Stadium... Problem solved.

That’s what I was thinking. Vinton County would give up their naming rights for Turf. Just saying, Holzer.

So you are trying to tell us there is less money in Gallia county available than there was at the Welfare capital of SEO aka Meigs county? Give me a break SMDH.
Question is, was Meigs field financed with a tax levy? If so, your aren't comparing apples to apples.
A new football field was NOT a part of the tax levy that built the new school at Gallia Academy.
so now you are saying meigs has better support at the ballot box? do you guyts do anything better than us?
You already know the answer to that question, if you check your history.
Just asking if the new field at Meigs was funded with a tax levy. That's all.

I heard they raised the money with donations.

They do have a vehicle to donate, but I don't think the total is anywhere near what is needed.

No. Formed the Meigs Local Enrichment Foundation headed by former Meigs great Mike Bartrum. They got their current football stadium as well as a cross country trail and a new softball field through donations.

That's great, but once it's moved will it still be called Memorial Field? Probably not, bc those in charge probably don't know why it's called that, don't seem to know the alma mater which names the school colors, black isn't one of them.

FYI, Holzer donated large amounts of money to Jackson, Point Pleasant, Meigs, and Athens. They also gave to Gallipolis, but Gallipolis administration and powers that be chose to use that money for the school auditorium.

Coal Grove has received donations from Giovanni’s Pizza over the years. The football stadium is named Patterson Field at Lemaster Stadium. The Lemasters, who founded Giovanni’s reside in Coal Grove. Thanks to their generous support, they have helped the student athletes of the Grove.

They are generous with Ironton too. And I’d bet other schools. Good people who are active in their community.

Jottings was one of the last of his generation - the old SE Ohio sportswriters and broadcasters. He was always generous with his time and provided information and knowledge in my search for SE Ohio history.

He was a good man. Always enjoyed our conversations. RIP
